MARKETING EDGE National Marketing Stakeholders Summit & Brands and Advertising Awards 2019, had come and gone, but the memories of this great event will linger for a longer time than the previous edition.

Veteran comedian Gbenga Adeyinka the 1st was the Master of Ceremony at the summit while Mr George Thorpe, the founder of MediaReach and PHD advertising agency headlined as the Chairman of the occasion.

Before founding his own advertising agency in 2012, Mr Steve Babaeko Started his career worked with MC & A Saatchi & Staachi in 1995. He later joined Prima Garnet Ogilvy and subsequently 141 worldwide where he worked till early 2012.

Prof. Ogbechie disclosed at the submit that that story-telling is the best way of connecting with consumers emotionally in the 21st century.

He noted that in today’s marketing world, most brands were competing in the same space to win the hearts of the consumers, stressing that it was only those brands whose stories resonate emotionally that would win consumer loyalty.

“Marketing itself is a fight for the consumer’s mind. The more you get into the mind of the consumer, the greater your chances of being successful with that consumer,” Prof. Ogbechie said.

According to him…

“In today’s marketing world, the key issue is to create emotional brand attachment with the consumers. Brands need to create relationship and that would further create that emotional attachment between the brand and the consumers.”

He, however, stressed that in today’s marketing world, brand owners need to reach out to the consumer using all the available platforms taking cognizance of both digital and traditional media.

In his words: “In our days, TV was King, Radio was Queen, and the newspaper was the Prince. But in the digital age as we are today; everything has changed drastically. The world is changing very fast to mobile.

“Mobile is no longer mobile. Mobile is now my teacher, mobile is now computer, mobile is now camera, video, a recorder, a notepad and even a brand of my bank,” he said.

He added that technology was tremendously helped in pushing the brand through effective storytelling, adding that most stories were being told in shorter forms and on constant basis.

To him, short video content tells the story of a brand faster because the consumers of the 21st century are very conscious of their time and it is only an advert that catches their attention that they would connect to.
